Rev counter - circuit

Help needed with my rev counter
I wanted to check that my harness is wired correctly to my rev counter
so decided to fit the donor V12 clock at the weekend.
got no readout what so ever !!!x(
is this because it has not been re-calibrated for a V8 with Twin point distributor
or is there some thing wrong with the set up

I connected the following
bullet connector to the Neg of the coil and 12V pos
to the spade connector and earthed the case.
found conflicting diagrams one said 12v supply and another 8V voltage staberlised ? tried both with no joy.

Any suggestons

Cheers
Steve;(

RE: Rev counter - circuit

I'm not 100 per cent sure but if it's a Jag clock i think the wire from ther neg side of the coil goes to the clock and then from the clock to the dizzy, in effect the clock becomes part of ther circuit.
Which way round they go i'm not sure, but if one way doesn't work just swap them over.
You do know that your rev counter will give an incorrect reading as it will be picking up a different quantity of pulses per rev. due to you having less cylinders.
No doubt someone will correct me if i'm wrong.
Good luck.
