Sumo Boot lock Hi, Does anyone have a drawing or the dimensions of the boot lock catch. The manual says make something up to catch the hook bit, but I was hoping someone already has the size needed ! :+ Norm. If in doubt give it a clout!

RE: Sumo Boot lock That's pretty vauge. That's like saying put something in the front that turns a bit

RE: Sumo Boot lock OK OK, maybe it is vaige...thats how I like it! The handle turns a hook bit, which in turn hooks onto a bit that you have to make. Looks like a bolt sticking out of a plate. Its fixed to the body/chassis and is the stationary bit of the lock system... Hope that helps clear things up......clear as mud.... Norm Oh well, done it again!

RE: Sumo Boot lock Norman, While not the clearest of definitions of what you are after, here is a photo of the top of my "clasp". http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony.br.../bootclasp.jpg As you can see, there is a bolt that steps off the top of the inner boot lid (bolts is around 70mm) to a metal bracket that is almost 'L' shaped and is fixed to the floor of the boot. If you want something similar, simply measure from this lip to the boot floor. This should tell you how high your bracket needs to be. Quite simple really. You'll find fitting this easier through the rear arches as it will allow you to measure up and line up much easier. Too bad if you've already fitted your rear wheel arches though! Let me know if you need exact measurements and I'll measure mine (oo-er) when I get home tonight. Tony B --- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony.breski

RE: Sumo Boot lock I've attached some pics of the dodgey looking but functional boot catch that I'll be using... The first thing to do is cut a slit in the fibre glass tub where the catch will be fixed. The catch also needs to be angled back slightly from being mounted against the chassis. I guessed a suitable angle and then drilled and threaded a hole in to which I bolted a long shaft bolt. With the boot in place with the lock you can asses where to position the catch by looking through the rear wheel arch (assuming you havn't yet fitted your wheel arches

| RE: Sumo Boot lock Not wishing to botch something unattractive I went the easy route and dropped into a local breakers yard. Turned out that any number of door/boot lock striker plates can be bolted to the boot floor (of an AK ). I used a Vauxhall Carlton boot striker as I hadnt bothered bringing my Torx drivers with me and the Carlton was the only one held on with a trusty 13mm bolt. A long bolt through the boot floor from under the car , with a locking nut to hold it in place, then a couple of nuts top and bottom of the striker plate and you have an infinitely adjustable stiker plate that enables you to set the locking action perfectly. However best of all was that when I asked the scrap guy how much he wanted for the striker plate he told me I could have it for free and that he'd get me next time when I wanted something bigger.......He must have seen me looking a scrap ( but complete) Daimler Double Six. Cheers, Tony
