Help with timing

Thought I had posted this but must have done something wrong. Forgive me if it comes up twice.

Difficult question but can anyone contribute with their thoughts. I am fitting the new cam sprockets and chain to my V8 Chevy and there are three cut outs for the key on the crank. According to the instructions they give 0 deg advance, 4 deg advance and 4 retard.

Which should I go for?

When I started with this engine, I got in touch with Repower asked for a 350 bhp package and basically ordered everything on the list. I have the Edelbrock ally heads, Keith black pistons, competition cam, etc. The engine has been decked, rebored and Ken at EDA has fully balanced the lot for me.

I have read the Vizard books and he leans toward 2-4 degrees advance but counters with the overriding "depending on the various component parts".

RE: Help with timing

I suggest you fit it 'straight up and down' at 0 degrees if it is the Edelbrock timing chain. Go to http://www.cranecams.com/instruction...ing/degree.htm to find out why!
