Hood Fitting Etc.

OK guys and gals,

Having now bought my hood and tonneau cover etc.
It's now time to fit it.

Does anyone have a good diagram showing the best recommended stud positions, ferrules etc?

How do the over-centre catches fit? anyone got a good clear picture please?

I read in a previous post that it's essential to fit a centre windscreen stay if a hood is fitted is this correct?

Basics as I understand them, fit it in the warm, start from the back and glue the material to the windscreen bow last?

I must get it fitted before Stoneleigh in case as normal on a bank holidat it pi**es down.

Thanks gang.

Kev,
I went through a similar process a few months ago. I got some good advice from our fellow members (thread #891. If you want to talk it through, drop me an email with your phone number I'll give you a call.

RE: Hood Fitting Etc.

Kev,

I'm doing exactly the same as you are now - fitting the hood.

I've bought a hood from Pilgrim for my Sumo and the rear of the hood is marked as to where the fixings should be fitted. Seems a good idea. I'm using lift-the-dot fastners on the rear.

I also have the Sumo build manual and the video and both show the hood being fitted from the rear. From what I have seen, it appears best to lay the hood across the roll bars and inner frame support (that goes over your head), fix the outer studs first - i.e. those by the door pillar so that the hood is central. Then start from the rear/centre and move outwards, ensuring that the hood from the roll bar is suitably positioned.

I hope to have pics of my fit by next week. Will be fitting over the Easter break.
