Crap out of the exhaust.....

Hi,

Since putting nice white stripes down my car, I have noticed that I am getting a light brown staining on them just above the exhausts. I have some nice new lengths of shiny Stainless tube to make the tail pipes a bit longer as they were very short before, hardly protuding from the boot.

The question I have is, does anyone know any fancy physics or whatever (black magic, experience etc) that determines how far they have to protude past the body so it doesn't come back on the body ?

Thanks

Alastair

RE: Crap out of the exhaust.....

It's probably the vacuum generated behind the car as its moving forward that is pulling the exhaust gases back on the bodywork.

Not sure how far you'd need to move them back, but not too far as you don't want them to look like wheel barrow handles!

Tim.

Alastair,

Guess what! Snap.

Just binned my short SVA friendly ones and have slapped on nice long ones which seem much better

I'll measure and post tonight.

Jim

RE: Crap out of the exhaust.....

It might help if you force the exhaust downwards as if comes out of the pipes, like you see on some production car exhausts.

That way it might get blown away with the wind rushing underneath the car. Just a thought, could be completely wrong!

Cheers,
Andy
