Which Pedal Box

Hi Folks, it's for the Classic Replicas Viper (Jag Based). Have spoken to Justin at Cadini who isn't keen on the 'Ken' solution but hasn't yet built a Viper. It seems I need to sort the pedal box before the servo/ master cylinder etc. Any recommendations would be really welcome. Justin had been thinking about floor mounted pedals but wasn't aware that a box section of chassis runs at the back of the footwell. So hanging pedals sound easiest. I've talked to S.N.G. Barrat about servo and master cylinder arrangement and they have options depending on the pedal box. Any advice on servos etc also very welcome.

Thanks

BAZ

RE: Which Pedal Box

Justin is right, the Ken Cook setup is absolutely crap.:v
It's the same with all the hinges (doors & bonnet) too.:v
You may as well throw most of the bracketry for the Viper away as it's not bl##dy use to man nor beast.:}
I have had some stainless steel door hinges made so let me know if your interested in them.

With regard to your query, I have had made, a custom assembly which should allow me to move the pedals (which you will have to fabricate yourself) front to back and from left to right so that I can get them just where I want them. It's not finished yet but I can't see why it won't work. Drop me an e-mail with you telephone number and I'll talk you through my setup.

Regards

Iain

RE: Which Pedal Box

Hi

I'm building a Classic Replicas Viper as well,

The kit was part started when I got it and what was done was poorly assembled, so I'm in the process of completely stripping and starting again.

The pedals were fitted and I have taken them out, they worked OK in so far as they provided braking clutch and accel functions

The pedals are hung from a bar bolted to the top of the footwell, quite simply and effective.

I have not got to the point where I need to reinstall them but a couple of problems I have to overcome are as follows:

1. The pedals were to far away, when I mocked up a seat my feet were some 150mm away from the pedals. I don't think the seat adjustment is going to help and even if it could my nose would be on the screen, so similar to Iain I intend to incorporate some kind of adjustment to accommodate the short and tall.

2. The jag servo and master brake cylinder was installed but as these are long, there was not enough distance between the bulkhead and inner wing so a hole had been hacked in the inner wing and on full lock the front wheel fouled the master cylinder!!!. I've since realigned the body which has provided more room but still not enough, although this does not effect the wheel to bulkhead dimension. I am considering using a different servo and master cylinder not sure what yet.

Lengthy but not much help, but may provide some info on what to avoid!

RE: Which Pedal Box

Hello Chris, thanks for your response you seem to have more problems than I do! Did you go to Stoneleigh? I did and saw Eric Rayner's car and had a close look at the servo and master cylinder fitting, which seemed fine. Eric emailed me today thinking I had your 'touching wheel' problem and suggested sending a photo to see if he could help.

I would like to explore the Pedal Box idea. When I spoke to Peter Ramella at Stoneleigh he said that he had a design for a box which he had had made up for him. I hope to speak to Peter and get details.

My telephone number is 01335 324606 and email barrieh@caribaww.com I live near Ashbourne in Derbyshire.

Kind regards

Barrie
