RE: ENGINE NUMBER

You can give it an engine no. yourself, as long as it's attached securely to the block. (ABC123*) or whatever.
The casting no. will determine the age of the block for SVA etc.
My engine uses a reman block like most. The engine no. is stuck on a matal plate to the side of the block, it's just a 5 digit no.
The main thing is that you must show the engine no. on the V5 and on the engine.

RE: ENGINE NUMBER

Thanks everyone for the advice. I managed to get confirmation off LDV. I spoke to a chap who did a cross reference with the sales dept and got the chassis number date of regerstration and they have supplied a letter to confirm it. The vehicle inspectorate have said they will accept this as proof of manufacture.
Thanks again for all your help lets hope it passes now as ill be on the road on 2 weeks time.

RE: ENGINE NUMBER

Cheers,

What is an official place to go ie website or book to show sva man to support the casting number/dates etc. I have some websites and D.Vizard 'How to rebuild your...' re casting numbers, but what is deemed as official proof. Anyone there been to sva recently and what documents did you produce?

Contrary Mary

Andy, get in touch with Bob Birchell (Bobs Cob), he has a small block Chevy book of mine on loan which I got from the states. It may have what you are looking for in there. It contains all the numbers, where to look for them. application and even what carb was fitted, dates etc. Eric
