SRV8 SPRINGS

I have recently taken off the springs to my SRV8 to see what size/ poundage they were as the ride seemed to hard. The engine is a Rover V8. Upon removal I found the fronts were 9" long and 400Ibs loading and the rears were 9.5" long and 200lbs loading. The rears seem about right but I cant help thinking the fronts are to much for the engine I have in it. Does anyone know what is the ideal springs set up for the SRV8 with the RV8 in it? Look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks

RE: SRV8 SPRINGS

Hi Mark,

I have SR with a chevy, I bought new springs and shocks about 2 months ago and sounds about right to me.I have 450Ibs front 200Ibs rear. You could try going down 350Ibs front.I have a firm ride too.

RE: SRV8 SPRINGS

If its of any help...I've built a CR Viper that had 450lb springs supplied for the front, I'm now down to 300lb. Yet to use it on the road but the front suspension now has movement when I jump up and down on it (17 stone lardy..)

RE: SRV8 SPRINGS

Thanks for that, but as you say you have a chevy, that does make me think the fronts on mine are incorrect as the Rover is a lot lighter engine (being ally and all that). Just out of curiosity where did you get the shocks from and what length springs are they?

RE: SRV8 SPRINGS

It's old. One of the early SRV8's- I think approx early 90's. The wheels on it are 15". Thanks for your note though- I will ring Jay and sort out the supply of some new springs on the front (whatever he recommends). Unfortunately I already have spax's on it as I bought and fitted them about 5 Years ago- so will have to make do!

RE: SRV8 SPRINGS

Hi,

My SR is an early one,I built it in 92 and has 15" wheels, which I would like to fit 17" wheels not sure if they will fit.I will soon need new tyres and they don't sell BF goodwich anymore.

If you give Jay a call tell him I sent you.He sill deals with roadcraft cars and parts.
