| A couple of q's Hi, to all,a couple of points for airing,I cannot make up my mind about side/underslung pipes,I have been fabricating stainless bends and cutting flanges to marry up to the sanderson headers on my bbf 429,I can now just about get them to come in the same area as the dax pipes but under the cross member by the front of the footwell, the pipes will be 3" so there is clearance but not loads,If I go with sidepipes I will then use a cone to go into 4" down the side,I have heard a few cars with underslung pipes and I do fancy them coming up into two exhaust boxes with twin tips on each, all in stainless, there is not much room to do this underneath, It may be a 2" pipe would suffice, then there is the question clearing the fuel tank, DB mentioned using another tank, I have been looking at the MGB option( feedback Dave?) would this give me more room? what is the capacity of these tanks? anyone done underslung on the dax? how did it go?I think the 429 would sound superb.Another point I am trying to use the Jag instruments, they all came off my v12 donor, the speedo is electronic, would it be easy enough to get reset to zero and have a sender on the prop? the diff is a P/Lock from the donor so should be ok? just trying to save a few bob!! any feedback appreciated. Thanks Dave Keane:} |

| RE: A couple of q's I have an underslung system on my Dax, against thier advice as Dax don't tell you this before hand, I have used 2inch pipes running from modified block huggers, the run back an in ttowards the centre to point under the diff then straight back to two Massey Ferguson! silencers(THAT DON'T) then two chrome finishing pipes. Sounding great, sounds noisy and pops and bangs on over run, he he. The ground clearence is not brilliant but I gat away with it. I made it up myself at little cost so if it was wrecked quickly it wouldn't matter but has so far lasted 4 yeras of abuse. It maybe worth trying 2 and half inch pipes. Good luck, Simon |
