Marina master cylinder.. getting major p**ed off !

My AK has been 'drivable' for almost a couple of months, apart from the BUGGERING brake master cylinder !!.

I have had the Marina (actually Ital, but I think its the same) dual port master cylinder for about 7 months now, and after trying to buy a new one (impossible it seems) I have (thanks to a friend) finally managed to take the first half of the cylinder apart, but the bit right at the end is rusted in solid it seems. Its taken 2 different master cylinder repair kits (both of which were wrong) and finally after 3 days of trying I have managed to get an original Lucas repair kit !! Although it now looks as though this thing may be stuck for good.

The thing is, I dont really trust something this old and rusted (with any amound of new seals) to stop my 200+ bhp bad boy from stopping !

Has anyone else got a spare Marina/Ital cylinder in decent shape where both sections come out ??????? I really am getting desperate. This has been the biggest hold up since day one it seems !

I have tried Partsforoldercars and they cannot get hold of a new Marina item anymore apparently. I really dont mind spending money on a new one if I can just bloody find one !

Cheers

Marcus

I assume you have removed the reservior and pulled the retaining pin out of the front hole to release the front piston?????????.
If you have and you still cant get the front piston out,try an air line to blow it out.I have a number for the guy that runs the Marina Club,he should be able to help locate one.I was told the Escort Mk4 servo/cylinder setup will fit to the Marina pedal box using the marina pushrod.Dont know how true cos I managed to get a second hand cylinder in good nick that works fine. You've got my numbers if you need anything.

Hi pal, yep, the reservior + retaining pin has been removed. I gave it to a friend to try an airline to no avail. Interesting what you said about the Escort setup, that certainly sounds a bit easier to locate ! The number of the chap who runs the marina club would be most appreciated !

Cheers pal.
