RE: rover sd1

Martin,

you can use a P6 pump, but as you say, the pulleys from a Sd1 won't line up with it. The SD1 has a number of steel pulleys that bolt onto the TV damper assy - which ones depends on whether it had aircon, PAS etc etc - there are many different arrangements. On the P6, the water pump pulley (a big 'flat' one), lines up with a 'pulley' groove machined into the TV damper hub itself. You will either need to have a one-off pulley made for the pump to make it line up with the SD1 crank pulley or have the TV damper machined with a pulley groove to line up with the P6 pulley (or find a P6 damper). see pics

Russ

BTW DJ Ellis does a nice billet aluminium pulley for P6 pumps.

And - you'll have exactly the same problem with the alternator - brackets are different to match the alternator pulley position to the crank/water pump.
