Clutch slave cylinder for a Dax?

Help! Can anyone tell me what clutch slave cylinder I should use on my Dax? The engine is a Chevy 350 with a GM T5 (ex Camaro) gearbox. At present, there is absolutely no provision for mounting anything onto, just the actuating arm protruding from the bellhousing. I phoned Dax who were actually quite helpful and suggested I contact Repower, which I did, only to be told by them that their kit doesnt work that well!
I assume that I will have to fabricate some form of bracket to be attached via the bellhousing/engine bolts with holes for a suitable slave cylinder to mount to. Question is which slave cylinder?

RE: Clutch slave cylinder for a Dax?

Yeah I made a bracket that fits to the side of the engine block to rear. Two large bolt holes are on my block into which a 7/8ths rover slave was installed and home made push rod, with 7/8ths master it all works with great travel and medium pressure. All assuming you have straight bell housing. Dave I am sure has an even better solution.

Re: Clutch slave cylinder for a Dax?

Ok let see if I can help you.

I know that Dave will give you a good help like he did with me.

This is an option that I did and will fit in a DAX with Chevy and T5 and the corresponding bell house.
In particular the fork ratio will determine a lot of the setup.

I did have a Hydraulic T/O cylinder from McLeod but I decided to change for an external slave cylinder.

My start point was the amount of kilograms that I want to put with my leg. In my case was 21 Kg.
I made a excel spread sheet to check the forces at the different points.
Normally the clutch force is 180 Kg.
See spread sheet to view the relations and don’t forget that your setup can be different, like the pedal ratio or others.
My result is a Master cylinder of 5/8” and a slave cylinder of 7/8” I use a pull cylinder from Wilwood.

I made a bracket (After several mistakes) and this bracket is fixed to the gearbox holes in that area.
See drawing, the bracket is stress calculated and it pass. (Skorpion has help me with that)

The fork of this T5 is special, because the distance between the pivot point and the push fingers is longer than normal; these is and advance when we are talking about stroke, that means that we need less amount of stroke.

I have also a video how it functions of 8 Mb if you want it let me know I will send it via e-mail.

I hope that this help you or at least show you one of the possibilities.
Regards,
