Engine Stand Bolts

SBC 383 short block & AFR heads arrive on Tuesday, picking up engine stand on Monday, (Draper 450kg one for £50) only question now is....

What bolts do I need to mount a 350 SBC block onto an engine stand and where can I get them from?

Any ideas,

James

RE: Engine Stand Bolts

Hello James,

not sure of the bolt thread/size from memory, but I was in exactly the same situation a year or two ago. I went to my local branch of Oakes Bros., they specialise in agricultural machinery and parts but they are the only people in Reading who I found could supply all the American-style nuts and bolts, off-the-shelf at dirt cheap prices.
I probably don't need to say this but make sure the bolts you use are high tensile - it might be worth telling them what you'll be using them for. HTH. Ian

Thanks for the info, if I was still living in Newbury I'd go right over but have been in Switzerland for two years now and UNC bolts over here in metric land are proving hard to find.

Hoping someone will know what I need to order and where I can get them from so I can get them posted over.

Dave

Once again many thanks, will see if I can get some sent over to me once I can suss out the length required to fit through the engine stand mounts.

What length will I need to allow to poke through to allow fixing onto the block?

Picking up engine stand today and block & heads Tues or Wed, been waiting nearly 5 months for this so can't wait to see how it all looks, especially the AFR heads.

RE: Engine Stand Bolts

Any good engineering supplier near you should be able to supply 3/8" UNC nuts and bolts.
My local one does.
