Help! Need to make a decision.

Strange wa to do things I know but thats me!

Ive just brought a set of pistons but as yet I have not got an engine block to put them in (they were a very good price!)

I can get these pistons in std. 0.20, 0.30, 0.40 or 0.60 sizes.

Now I was thinking of going for the 0.30 as I should be able to find a block thats undersized and bore out.

Do you think 0.30 is a fairly safe bet?

Cheers

Andy :}

RE: Help! Need to make a decision.

I'd go for the +60 for the following reasons:

1) It's a performance up grade ( if only a small one )

2)What if the engine/block has had a rebore already?

Then they will fit.

RE: Help! Need to make a decision.

Thanks for replying.

the only problem I can see with +60's is theres no room to grow from there.

What about he 40's, there musy be some blocks about that dont need a huge rebore?

RE: Help! Need to make a decision.

Seriously If you buy a block from an o.k source they can tell you the bore so you could go for +30.

If you buy and engine that you don't know the history of. . ..

Well you don't know if it's ever been rebored?

If you buy the +60's then there going to fit!! and last the life of a fully reconditioned engine, and I don't think you'll manage 150,000 in a cob before you die or it dies.

Most of use don't see 3000 a year!

Hope this is a little clearer, just seems like sense to me.

RE: Help! Need to make a decision.

Well if the recon unit will last 150,000 then that does make a whole heap more sense.

Im going to talk to my block source this morning and see what hes got in stock.

Thanks for the advice.
