RAM Sc--Steering Wheel Boss

Hello Guys,

Just a quick question for the Ram owners....the instruction manual!! states that a 'Motorlita' boss Ref B44 should be used (Saying it is a Cortina Mk 1 boss)....but the Motorlita web site states that a B44 is for a Lotus.....Any ideas which boss i need???

Thanks again

Dave:}

RE: RAM Sc--Steering Wheel Boss

Dave,

The RAM is USUALLY fitted with a Mk1 Escort steering column, The end of which comes in two different fittings.
Best bet would be to take a photo and email it to Moto-Lita themselves.

RE: RAM Sc--Steering Wheel Boss

Dave
I've got a RAM with a Motalita Steering Wheel. Unfortunately I bought the car and I've not got information regarding the steering boss. However I know that the Column is a modified Escort Mk1 and the boss is very basic - some would say classic. I can photgraph it and put it on the web site this evening if it would help.

Regards

Ken T

RE: RAM Sc--Steering Wheel Boss

Dave,

Attached is picture of boss on my RAM. As Simon and Ken have said column is Mk1 or 2 escort. Std Escort boss is much longer than the one I used. I went to Europa with column inner and an idea of what sort of boss length I wanted, then tried every one they had that fitted the Escort spline - unfortunately can't find reciept with part number. It was std black crinkle finish but I re-machined and polished it.

RE: RAM Sc--Steering Wheel Boss

Lotus used Ford steering columns and they have an identical spline to the escort mk1/2 which is used on your Ram. So the B44 shuld work OK with your column.
