nudge bars and SVA

I'm led to believe that most front nudge bars fail the SVA test due to incorrect radii, but what about the rear nudge bars, do they pass? I'll be leaving the front one's off till after the test do you think i should leave the rear off too or will there be no problem? :tu

RE: nudge bars and SVA

Hi Tony, the only reason they fail the SVA, is if there are sharp edges on them x( x( x( . This is normally in the area where the 2 halves are welded together, so all you need to do is look at your nudge bars and you can answer your own question :P :P :P :P .

Tony

No problem with the rear, the only part that is suspect on the front is shown on the picture.

RE: nudge bars and SVA

Ahhhhh, for some reason i was under the impression it was to do with the radius of the edge of the over rider, thanks Martin and Mike for that :tu

You are correct about the overrider, these have to be SVA approved with a 2.5mm radius on the return edge, I don't think anyone will be supplying none SVA ones but I would check yours are if you have already bought them.

The outer rear corners on the rear could be a prob.
The bit you show Mike should be fine as it can't be contacted with a 4" sphere.
As for over riders, some of the hollow backed ones can sometimes have a radius that is too tight.

Dave

I know that and you know that, but the stupid inspector tried to fail mine on this point, he said it had sharp edges on the side, good job I had read the SVA manual and could put up a constructive argument, he eventually agreed with me.

RE: nudge bars and SVA

Mike.
I had an SVA inspector try to fail me because the nut that was behind the rear reflector (Between reflector and body)was not radiused........He would have needed a sphere of less than 1" diamiter to reach it.

RE: nudge bars and SVA

I have brass craft overriders with no protection on rear edges. I put on some excellent trim with the required radii (it has metal in side it PVC on outer) and grips on everso tightly and no problem with L.Buzzard AARRGHH testing station.
