TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! Hi guys, those of you that have been following the threads on Halibrand/Minilites or Sidescreens will recall I mentioned that I have TRIGO knockoff wheels on my Dax and that they do stick out a little far. Well hopefully good news. I have today been talking through the problem with a local engineering firm and they feel that to replicate the original Jag hub incorparating the threaded shaft from the Trigo adapter will be straight forward. This will be a brand new hub using the original bearings and measurements for the Jag specs but have the threaded centre shaft as the wheel fixing. Briliant and probably only £130 each, brand new and specially made including design drawing and computer programming, I think thats not bad and they will be happy to make any more as the design work will be done, so there is no reason(apart from money)for not having proper knock offs on your car, Simon{-} {-} {-} {-} {-} {-}

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! Trouble with E Type or any other wire wheel type hub is that they are splinned. Trigos and Halibrand are pin drive and there fore do not ahve a spline to hold the wheel, they have 5 pins that locate in the back of the wheel, good thought though, thanks, Simon:tu :tu :tu

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! Interesting, what about the front, are they sticking out as well. Any change of mailing pictures of the car while I intent to put on Trigo's in the future, especially when the right sized hubs can be bought. thanks, Rik

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! The problem is with the front tyres. The rears work fine with 235/60/15 tyres. If you want to put anything wider on then just have your Jag drive shafts and wishbones shortened a bit more. The wheels are 8.5 inch front and 9.5 at the rear.:tu :tu :tu :tu :tu simon Here are the rears, the fronts are off the car while I work on the new hub ideas:tu :tu :tu :tu

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! Simon, Thanks for the info, your wheels look great ! I will have to shorten the rear drive shafts and wishbones, while rear tires are presently 275/60/15, front is 215/60/15. How much are the front wheels sticking out with the original Jag hubs and are your 235 rear wheels inside the wheelarches ? I am curious about your front hub design, any change of a small sketch or photo (when ready :tu ) Cheers, Rik

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! Simon, What type of tyres are you using ? Alex

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! At the moment I have Pirelli 235/60vr 15 P600 on the back and 225/60vr 15 Uniroyal on the front but I have a new set of Goodyear 215/60 vr 15 directionals to go on the front when the hubs are done. I have tried all sorts of different tyre sizes over the years and find you can OVER-Tyre the car if your not careful.It also means that you can still get a V rated tyre on your car if you don't go to big. As to the design for the new hubs I should have a CAD design from the engineering company next week so I will put that on a tread, Simon:tu :tu :tu :tu :tu

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! Rik, if you already have 275/6 on the back you may find that the wheels will fit. The supplied adaptor adds quater of an inch and the offset is similar. Which make of car have you got? If its DAX I can do some measuring for you to check rear clearance. The fronts at the moment are out about an inch and a half past the wheel arch and this should be taken up with the new hubs, Simon

RE: TRIGO/Halibrand knock off hubs problem sorted! Simon, I have a DAX, rear wheels with 275/60 are on Halibrand replica's and they fit just fine (although not much space left...) However, pressent offset unknown ! I appriciate if you could make the measurements :tu Will also wait for your CAD design :tu :tu Cheers, Rik
