Hi,
check this out, http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html , i have it fitted to my cobra and im very pleased with it, Im even writting a program for it to control water injection. Cost me under £300 and although i have no experience of other ECU's i bet it can do all they can do and possibly more for normal street usage. More info on my site if you need it,
Phil

RE: Emerald mappable efi

Emerald website listed in Marks' reply gives contact details. Emerald M3D is an EMS that controls both fuelling and ignition.

Good support from the company, Karl does the programming and will listen to requests for development. When I eventually put my Wildcat engine in my Cobra he will reprogramme the fuelling steps at the bottom end in order to shorten the steps and give a smoother response, necessary with 8 50mm throttles. Currently he is working on launch control and variable traction control which will be released qtr1 next year. The idea behind the variable traction control is that in the wet you can set it very sensitive to cut power at a hint of slip, in the dry you can set it more coarse to have a bit of fun {-}
It will fire the 4 coil pack used on late Range Rovers, so no Dizzy, and it will take the output from a wide band lambda, so that can be logged in conjuction with timing and fuelling and anything else you can monitor, temps etc. So far they have not charged me for any upgrades they've performed, nice guys to deal with.

You wo'nt regret going to mappable EMS, my experience has been good and it appears that others have had equally good results.

any quereies let me know, if you want a chat let me know
regards
Kev

RE: Emerald mappable efi

For those with experience of mappable EMS systems, I'm thinking of putting a Holley Commander 950 MPFI system based around a single plane manifold onto a 383 SBC I'm building.

Anyone with any experience of this system, any comments.

Chevytalk.org seems to be a great forum for support and the software whilst not supporting sequential injection seems to be very logical and, dare I say it, straight forward for DIY mapping.

RE: Emerald mappable efi

Kev,
It looks like were on a similar path with the 5.0L Wildcat bottom end except that I have a V8Developments set matched stage 3 heads, ported inlet manifold and inlet plenum with oversized butterfly. I have the choice of carb or injection (not really keen on hot wire for this application) but I can't afford Omex or DTA. So, as I understand the Emerald system costs less than the other two, I want to find out some more info with regards to quality, cost, ease of set up etc. From the other posts there does not seem to be a problem with quality so I'm going to call them tomorrow.
Thanks for the info, I'm sure if I go this way theres going to be lots of questions....
