How to fix stone guards

Now fitting car with shiny bits post SVA.

Any advice on how to fix the aluminium stone guards to the rear wings ?

Car is still in gel coat and will be for a while yet until I can afford a spray job so it would be best to be able to remove the stone guards without damaging them when it comes to spray time.

Cheers

David

RE: How to fix stone guards

David - I made up 3 backing plates in sheet ally with anchor nuts and bonded them to the inside of the wheel arch.

That way you can demount the gaurds when its time for painting and to get really clean during service.

Regards Clive

David,

I used 2 Dome headed (Hex Drive) stainless bolts (M4 I think) fixed with washers and nylocs - for the same reason as you.

RE: How to fix stone guards

Any chance of a photo of the finished item ?

Did you put silkaflex around edge to prevent water and/or crap (technical term !) getting in between the stone guard and the fibre glass ??

Thanks

David

The picture from the front shows the dome head at top right, the other 2 pictures are from behind, lower screw is self tapper, upper is another dome head onto nylock.
