Stupid SVA exemption question

In the SVA information on the web site most sections start with a statement of 'all vehicles except', then it says

' Amateur Built vehicles until 1 January 2000, constructed from a kit which included a chassis or body and was purchased (sold retail) before I January 1998'

I have a SRV8 with a receipt of purchase of 1992 but I am still building it. Im a little confused by the statement, does it mean I needed to finish my car before Jan 2000 to be exempt.

Im sure this must be the case.

Paul.

RE: Stupid SVA exemption question

Sorry to say this but if it was a kit designed before the SVA was even in the pipeline then there is a chance that the design of the finished car won’t be able to pass the SVA test without major modification. I don’t know if this applies to your kit but I would think someone within the forum will know and may also be able to recommend the changes that will need to be made.

Hoping it will be ok,
Andy

RE: Stupid SVA exemption question

Ok its early and I may have miss interpreted (or spelt!) Mikes comments but if I was in the position of having a pre SVA car I would rather know about it possibly not passing the SVA before Ive finished it and hence have the opportunity to do something about during the build.

Therefore although I agree Andys comments were negative, and in the past this has been the general tone of his posts, in this case he did finish on a positive encouraging note.

As I say its early and the old brain is missing a few beats so I may have got it all orribly wrong!!

Prehaps you should get off his case!!!
This continued harassment becomes a bit tedious to the members who just want a club to discuss cobras and not other members.

RE: Stupid SVA exemption question

Paulgd

Paul Evans asked a question and Martin (Tinka) answered in precisely.

In my honest opinion there wasn't any need for Andy to give negative vibes on the kit design or construction.

From Paul's reply to Martin he is obviously well aware of the required changes needed to make the car SVA friendly, without Andy sticking the knife in.

I'm sorry if you think I'm on his case, but I find his answer totally unhelpful.

P.s. On a lighter note WELL DONE ENGLAND

RE: Stupid SVA exemption question

I have to say I agree with Mike, Paul sounded like he new the rules as far as SVA goes so why put in the negative :} :} :} :}

Good luck Paul :tu :tu , I can see no reason why you wont get through the SVA as long as you abide by the rules in the guide. :tu :tu :tu :tu
