RE: the best spark plugs??

Regarding spark plugs, for those of us who have newer engines in the Cobra or even do our own maintenance on the daily driver I was told by a trusted mechanic that I should on no account try to fit non Original Equipment spark plugs in my Lincoln LS, oops sorry Jaguar S Type.

It seems that the OE plugs are specifically engineeered for the cars ECU ( matched specifically )and non OE spark plugs wont work, the car doesnt even start.

All this is a bit of a buggar as Jaguar charge an arm and a leg during a service for simple things like oil, £60 for just the oil at the last service, so I shudder to think what the plugs will cost when I need them.

These car companies try every way to get you by the bo--ocks don't they........

Cheers,

Tony

RE: the best spark plugs??

Hi,
I had Bosch in my RV8 for a while, but have gone over to NGK now. Not any difference that I could tell, just found that I could open up the gap more for my MSD amp.

RE: the best spark plugs??

Champion R9YCC for road use (or even 11's if 9's soot up).

5's or 6's for the track.

Russ

How many different answers did you want?? (It's a bit like the 'whats the best oil' question)

RE: the best spark plugs??

Martin, I use NGK BP8EVX in my 3.9 personally I would not touch Champion with a barge pole they have let me down so many times, only my view of course Eric.
