Cam Identification

Anyone know anything about Rover V8 camshafts, I have an engine which is reputed to have a non standard cam in it, any ideas of how I find out what it is. The engine is partially stripped on the engine stand but the cam is still in the block.

RE: Cam Identification

Rover,

without measuring it (dti and degree wheel) the only way is to pull the cam from the block. There is normally some ident stamped into the rear face of the rear cam bearing.

'would I see the markings by taking out the core plug'

Yes, but then you'd obviously have to fit and seal a new plug.
