door cards?

Hi every one...i have just fitted the door cards today to my GD body...and as suggested drilled the door to 7 mm for the clips to fasten in to...all went well on the drivers door..a small nick in the leather and a firm push on the door card and hey presto?
but when i did exaclty the same to the passenger door...the clips don't seem to fasten very well?...tried everything...bending clips etc...but no luck...has any one got any good suggestions...as i want to build the car to last, and not have to bang the door every time the wife gets out?...

RE: door cards?

Are you having trouble with the door card fitting to the door, or difficulty closing the door?

The profile of the passenger door is very slightly different to that of the drivers door, but the passenger door card seems to be a mirror image of the driver's door card.

As a result, the card seems to sit tight against the top return on the door.
Also I found that when the passenger door card was fitted, the door seal would hit the card instead of the GRP. Som adjustment to the door opening was required.

Simon.

RE: door cards?

it may sound a bit rough but i used velcro fastening to fix the cards to the door,it needed to be glued but does provide an excellent bond and eases card removal

RE: door cards?

My doors were a complete bitch to fit - the passenger one only needs a tiny movement on the handle to open it. What strength of spring should I buy to facilitate the return, and where do I fit it?

Has anyone got a good photo of the slots they had to cut in the door ends to make room for the latch mechanism? It's a bit late now, because I've done mine, but it would be useful for future builders, I'm sure...

RE: door cards?

I had trouble getting these panels to pop on - in the end I used clear silicone sealant - worked a treat, now a perfect fit.
