Ford Engine id

Finally managed to id/date my 351c after much head scratching x( :}
It turns out to be Australian, which is why I've not been able to find it in any of the normal references! :} :} :} I've posted a link in case anyone else has a similar problem.

I'm well pleased though because the Aussie 2v heads are supposedly far superior to the US ones.
Cheers Chris

RE: Ford Engine id

Hi Ad
I live in Sussex! Fairly local to Brum! ( I sold some Eagle doors to a guy from Brum a few weeks ago! 4 hour round trip) Thanks for the link, I've learnt so much in the last 48 hours just posting and reading the US and AUS sites!! So friendly:tu and helpful I've got some tuning bumph somewhere, and if I remember right the 302Boss heads were the Dogs Bits on the 351c :tu :tu I'll let you know.
Cheers

Chris
I have just read your post and am in a similar spot as you,that is i can't identify my cleveland heads. They are the smaller ported and valved 2v type but have the smaller quenched combustion chambers of the 4v heads!!! Are these similar to your aussie heads???

Cheers:tu

RE: Ford Engine id

Chris,

You said your 351c engine and heads where Australian ? The pic of your heads are the open chamber 2v heads which look identical to mine.

The "good" australian heads are the ones with the quench closed chambers.

Alhough there is nothing "bad" about the open chamber heads.

Alex

RE: Ford Engine id

Hi Alex.
Oh well nothing lost! I only paid £3.5k for the car part built! The price of the basic kit!!, so the rebuit engine, T5 box, new clutch, rad, header tank and all the rebuilt donor parts stand me in nothing!!
At the end of the day what I've got is more than adequate to keep my aged sphincter on it's toes {-}
Cheers

RE: Ford Engine id

Chris,

Mine is a '72 351c-2v with about 9.5:1 CR in a Dax with a Tremec box and 3.07:1 axle ratio. It is pretty mildy tuned and I have never been dissapointed with the performance even with the non quench heads.

Ok well maybe the time the Yamaha R1 burned me off I was !!!

Alex

RE: Ford Engine id

Chris,

We will have to get together sometime and swap notes!!

I'm in Sussex as well, but a little further east than you, near Heathfield/Hawhurst area.

Its true that, as far as Ford Stock Heads go, Aussie Quench 2V heads are the dogs dangly bits for a 302/351 block.

The 302/351 Aussie blocks are also considerably better than their american equivalent. I've got both and IMHO would go Aussie everytime :tu

Regards

david
