Toploader Shifter Question

Hi All,
I know Im firing loads of these toploader questions but I wanna get it right first time......... (not my normal way of doing things...)

ok picture below has a shifter on it that is bent forward, apparently as the original 427 was, but that looks awfully uncomfortable for putting in reverse and possible even normal shifting.
Can any body let me know their experiences?

cheers
Ben:tu

RE: Toploader Shifter Question

Hi,

I've found it easy to use (although it does look difficult)

It's very forgiving if you are a bit sloppy in your change (IE with the clutch)

I definitely found it better than the rover gear box in my last cob
:}

Although that isn't a reflection on rover gear boxes, it was probably just my car!

RE: Toploader Shifter Question

cheers Paul,

I keep thinking that they had put the shifter on the wrong way round when ever I saw a piccy of a gearbox (to get it in the picture or something....:P

Did the box fit easily? no clearance problems or anything?

cheers

Ben

RE: Toploader Shifter Question

Hi Ben,

I'd better point out that I bought the car fully built so I cant give you any idea about how to fit the gear box.

Sorry about that.

A lot of the Americans use Toploaders although I guess they are fitting them into American kit cars :}

I would have thought the main issue would be where the stick comes out, since it is a lot farther back than a Tremec for example.

I'm sure I saw a Dax demo with a toploader at Donnington (attached to a 454ci I think) So they mey be able to help.

Is it a Dax you are building? (I forgot to look before I started posting!)
