Edelbrock 1405-600cfm - Tuner or advice req'd

In the process of converting to EFI, I have installed a wideband lambda sensor and display on the car.
However with work commitments, the EFI may not be completed as soon as I would like, so I need to get the carb tweaked for more grin-factor in the meantime...

I knew the carb needed some setting up to match the engine - I now know where the adjustments are required, but not necessarily how to do them - I believe some "precision butchering" is required.

Here goes:
1 - Idle.
Running about 13.0:1. Acceptable - the engine seems happiest with that.

2 - Just off idle.
WAY too lean - about 17.0:1. This is a steady state condition, so tweaking the accelerator pump wouldn't really help. This is where the car runs, trying to toddle along at 30. Kangaroo fuel.
I've heard this needs the idle jets enlarging, plus a 1/16in hole in each primary throttle plate. Stems from too much idle transfer slot under the throttle at idle.

3 - Light-throttle cruise.
Running about 13.0:1. Should be about 15.0-15.5:1 for some economy here.
I understand this will be to do with the rod, spring and jet combo.
The info is in the manual. Just need a kit of bits to try.

4 - Mid-throttle driving.
Running about 13.0:1 again. Could be slightly leaner maybe, say 14.0:1
Fix as above.

5 - Just as secondaries open.
There's a slight lean spot here, about 15.0:1. Didn't feel it when driving though.
Don't know how to alter this, or if it even needs altering.

6 - Three-quarters throttle.
Running about 13.0:1 again. Good as it is.

7 - Floored.
Still running 13.0:1. Could be a bit richer (12.0:1) for more power.

Any help appreciated, or maybe you know "a man who can"?

Simon.

RE: Edelbrock 1405-600cfm - Tuner or advice req'd

I suggest that you check out Eedelbrocks own web site, as I think you'll find most of your answers there.
Be care ful not to go too lean or you'll be backing off the ignition too to get rid of detonation (pinking). This would rather defeat the object and lose you performance.
