Oil and Grease Ford Top Loader Gearbox

Good evening Guys
Just a quick one - what is the recommended oil for my 4 Speed Top Loader Gearbox and what's the best grease for the drive splines? I'm putting it back in the car this weekend having hopefully fixed my hydraulic throwout bearing!

Regards

Ken T

Ken,

'what's the best grease for the drive splines'

If you mean the clutch drive splines then you should NOT grease at all. Clean thoroughly and run dry, all clutches are designed to work like this.

RE: Oil and Grease Ford Top Loader Gearbox

Thanks for the advice - I've put the gearbox back now with high melt point grease on the gearbox shaft splines -is that wrong? Not that it matters because the bloody hydraulic throwout bearing is leaking again - so its out gearbox AGAIN!!! I hate hydraulic throwout bearings with a vengance

Regards
