Leather Dye

Morninig Chaps.

I am in process of gutting my KCC interior. Its a very worn grey and needs re-trimming . The carpets are paper thin and the dash and door panels are vinyl but the seats are in good condition. I have heard of treatments that clean, prime and dye leather to a new colour i would be going to a darker colour ( black) . Its going to cost £600-£700 for new or re-upholstery seats . Any suggestion

Ian
I am not sure if you can effectively re dye seats made up. But contact the following two sites and I am sure they can/will help you form an opinion

Good luck

RE: Leather Dye

you can re-dye seats easily. visit your local paint shop
not Halfords and tell them what you want the paint for.
they will make it up in a spray can for about & 7.50 per can.

Just ask them what you need to clean the old leather down with, then spray the seats. I did mine two years ago and one does need doing again because my fat arse wears it off. But my wifes side is ok.

RE: Leather Dye

Don't bother with leather dye it is useless.
I have a warehouse full of black leather and can sort you out sufficient hides to recover your seats and replace the vinyl dash and door panels at a very reasonable price. You should be able to get a local upholsterer to recover the seats for about £60.00 each and do the rest yourself.
I would think that you could do the whole job for about £300 total
If you are interested send me an e.mail on arc@universal-trading.co.uk. and give me your address details.
You can have any other colour but it will cost slightly more.

RE: Leather Dye

Tony i would be very intrested in getting my hide from you, i found a guy in Southampton who will do the seats for 100 each and is not botherd if i supply the leather.i now cant decide on black or magnolia .The car is a dark burgandy with silver stipes which would match either, but the dials are all black VDO. Can you give me a price for both .

RE: Leather Dye

Have a look at my reply to "Trimmer in North of England" under general discussion today.

Two hides of Black would be about £160 as opposed to £180 in magnolia

Send me your address and I will mail some samples for you to compare against the body. I will also send a piece of Burgundy in case you decide to have contrasting piping with the Magnolia.
