VAC ADVANCE

I'm currently running a standard RV8 with a 35DM8 distributor. i have recently found out that the vacuum advance is not working, whilst under initial vacuum it advances, the module will not hold the vacuum. The question is this: - what effect is not having a vacuum advance doing to the running of the engine, and what is it doing to the performance? At the moment I'm using twin Stromberg carbs. :tu

RE: VAC ADVANCE

Hi,
I have one you can have FOC, I bought it as mine was duff too, I didnt notice any difference with it but a mate of mine had the same problem and he noticed a difference with a carb setup. I have since changed over to a mappable system, so its no longer needed, email me your address if you want it.

RE: VAC ADVANCE

Tony, acceleration will be sluggish and may initially affect the top end if no advance state is achieved you will only be running 6 deg before TDC instead of a total of perhaps 28 deg's Eric

RE: VAC ADVANCE

Tony, the weights in the dizzy control the timing. The vac advance is there primarily for fuel economy although as pointed out it can affect acceleration and top end performance :tu
