Bonnet to Air Filter Clearance

Help!!!

Just finished fitting the engine/gearbox tonight so thought I would rest the bonnet back in place.

Yep, you guessed it! The Edelbrock Elite triangle air filter hits the underneath of the bonnet :} :} :}

Waiting for BAE to confirm what manifild I have as I want to find the dimension differences between mine and an Edelbrock RPM manifold.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it?

Engine is a SBC in a Dax De Dion.

Cheers in advance

Michael

RE: Bonnet to Air Filter Clearance

Michael, I think your options are a lowe rise air filter, get a bigger scoop fitted to your bonnet or a different inlet manifold. :}

Doh,

Just what I feared.

I have the Dax Hi-rise scoop :} but did originally ask for an Edelbrock RPM inlet manifold but this was changed at the last minute to the one I have now.

Will have to compare measurements with Edelbrock RPM when I know the make of mine.

Cheers

Michael, dont panic! Its easy, your air cleaner doesn't have a low rise base. You will have to swap it for a round one (elite series like your triangular one) with a low rise base. Bags of room then. I'm not sure actually if there is a low rise base for the triangular one.

I've got a new unused 'drop-down' K&N 14" round chrome, 3" deep, for sale if you're interested.

RE: Bonnet to Air Filter Clearance

Hi Rob,

You're right there isn't a low rise base for the triangular Elite so a round one seems to be by only option

I so loved the triangular one......

By the way I will update my site tonight with your new pic, any other updates you want to add mail me today.

Regards

Michael

Michael,

Cant you put it on back to front? {-}

And I'm sure you got my mail, but something about tilting the engine forwards slightly? Or, just cut a hole in the bonnet and put a maxpower sticker across the windscreen.

:tu

Good site mate..
