What's the thread size ?

Hi,

Does anyone know what the thread for the fuel inlet on an edelbrock carb is? (it's a 750 cfm if that makes a difference)

I'm after changing the current push on fitting to a banjo & bolt, but am having difficulty finding out what the thread is.

Thanks
Geoff

RE: What's the thread size ?

Geoff,

The thread size is 5/8"-20 (5/8" - 20 threads per inch)

Hope that helps.

RE: What's the thread size ?

thanks GUMBALL.

Am I right in assuming thats 5/8" UNF ?

looking on the Think Automotive site, they don't stock a 5/8" banjo bolt. Anyone know where else I could try ?

Thanks
Geoff

RE: What's the thread size ?

Geoff,

No it's not 5/8" UNF - it's an odd size (I think UNF is 18tpi??).

Think do an adaptor part no. FBM2112, but it's a straight fitting to fit to -6 stainless hose adaptors. I used one of these and a 120degree swept tube fitting on to stainless hose to clear a low slung air filter.

Edelbrock do a banjo kit part no.8089 try Brian at Repower

RE: What's the thread size ?

hmm!

already spoke to Brian - who sold me a male / male adapter to -6, as he doesn't stock a banjo fitting. Also the edelbrock kit is a push on fitting.

I have a 90° bend from Think (pretty sure this may even be the moquip compact bend) but this gets in the way of my air filter - also low slung due to (lack of) bonnet clearance.

Is the 120° bend more compact than the 90° do you know?

cheers
Geoff

RE: What's the thread size ?

Geoff,

I couldn't get hold of a long enough banjo bolt to allow me to use a threaded -6 fitting on the end of it (the aluminium banjos are thicker than steel ones and I could only get a steel banjo bolt which was not long enough).

The 120 deg fitting may have more clearance than the 90 deg one because the threaded section is more out of the way, but I doubt if the actual sweep of the bend is any different.

I was using an Edelbrock elite air filter on a Edelbrock 750 carb - this set up worked fine for me in a Dax.

What filter are you using??

GUMBALL

P.S. How do you type a degree symbol (i.e. ° ) (I cut and pasted that one - before anyone comes back with a smart ar5ed comment {-} )

RE: What's the thread size ?

All these including the short cuts are in the character map, which should be located under Programs - accessories - System Tools - Character Map.

Hope this helps. :tu :tu :tu :tu :tu
