| RE: Chevy won't start Hi Warren. From your latest post I would conclude that your problem was due to the ignition timing being too far out. But you thought you had set it correctly at 8 degrees BTDC. Is the harmonic damper the one originally fitted to your engine? Or is it a new/replacement one? As you may know GM had these made with the timing marks in three different positions relative to the keyway. On mine I had to measure TDC on piston 1 with a dial guage and make a new mark on the damper because of this. If you are looking at a 'false' TDC mark on the damper you could get the situation you describe. Hope that helps. Ian      |

| RE: Chevy won't start That would make sense, it is a replacement damper. Thanks for that I will have another look, haven't got a dial gauge but should be able to get it pretty close. Warren |
