| Body Fitting OK, last question for today. I have the body in place but notice that it either isn't quite sitting square, or the shell isn't perfect. The rear wheel arch on the drivers side sits about .25 inch out over the rear tyre. On the passenger side this is more like .75 inch. x( I have tried manually shifting the body sideways but the chassis won't let it move. I am also trying to get the GD pre-drilled mounting holes to line up but again they wont and no amount of levering, pushing or nudging will do it. I am wary about putting to much pressure on and then bolting whilst under pressure as this will surely place unwanted pressure on the shell. Anyone got any tricks in this department? Failing a solution I think I am going to have to drill new holes and live with the very slight side-to-side difference. Paul

| RE: Body Fitting Paul Don't drill new holes. Trust me it will fit. Two or three people helps. One in the car to jump up and down (do not worry, to see Andy do it he is brutal, if in doubt call him). One to use a bit of 4 x 4 to lever against the rear tyres to pull the body forward and one to put the bolts in. Check the depth of the mounting bolt holes. You need 20mm bolts to fasten, anything longer and they may bind against the chassis resulting in bloody horrible squeeks. Bon chance Stephen |

| RE: Body Fitting Paul Sorry I pressed send before I had finished. You may have to elongate the holes by a few mm. I had two holes to elongate and then only slightly, it took a lot of leverage to get them to line up but once it's on it's on. Stephen |

| RE: Body Fitting Hmmm... I have lined up two unsuspecting friends for tonight and will see how I get on. Andy in GD confirmed that the two mounting holes behind the engine are the key ones to get lined up and then the remaining 4 inside the driver tub. Paul

| RE: Body Fitting The wheel arch flare is very slightly different - a trait carried over from the original AC hand bashed alloy vehicle from which the buck was taken I believe. Having set the rear axle toe in and centred the thrust line to the chassis, I run a spacer on the left rear wheel to even up the visual appearance. It only seems to show on 255mm wide tyres. Just ensure you shave enough of the return off to allow wheel/suspension travel on full bump. |
