Gardner Douglas Chassis

Guy's
Just a quick question. How does the back end of the gd stop from going out of shape when you put the power down? Looking at the pics their are no radius arms as fitted to Jags. Now they only put out about 260bhp on a good day and Jag see fit to fit them some people are talking 500+.
I am not an engineer so keep it simple

Thanks

RE: Gardner Douglas Chassis

Errmm, do a search on radius arms on the forum and a load of answers are there. Basically, they are not needed, on some cars they have been put there "because they were on the jags so they must do something".

Some manufacturers thought about it and removed them, GD & RAM, some thought about them and moved them, Dax. Others just threw them in because they were there in the first place.

RE: Gardner Douglas Chassis

Very good that last one.
The argument started last night whilst working on a Arrows Daytona and that kit retains the radius arms. I will take a good look on Saturday. I guess the guys at GD know what they are doing. If I am in your car Rob I hope they do.....

RE: Gardner Douglas Chassis

My car had "original" jag radius arms that ran parallel to the chassis and had a tendancy to slide the back end very easily.Since removing them the back end now dips slighty on corners and takes a lot of welly to make it slide. As of yet the wishbones seem to be taking the strain on their own.
