GD wheel sizes

I have a GD Jag on order - and can't decide on 16 or 17 rims.

I have spoken to GD about this - but I am still undecided.

For any GD users who opted for 17, do you find the ride too harsh for a car that is primarily road use, and for 16 inch users, do you tyres perform as well as you'd like

I know this is a little subjective, but I want to make an informed decision

RE: GD wheel sizes

Steve,

I've just moved from 15" to 16" and am more than happy with the performance/comfort mix - but I would concede that if you want a balls out jobby then go for 17" and stuff the dentist's bills }(

Cheers

Jim

It isn't a problem, as you can adjust the dampers to compensate for the increased weight and take up any movement, then when on a trackday, you can wind them back again.

I run 17s, as does Charlie on GD Jags.

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.

RE: GD wheel sizes

My GDJAG runs on 17" billet wheels. Harsh ride? What harsh ride?
If you want soft buy a 4 x 4!

Seriously I think they look better than 16" as they fill the arches more.

I cannot compare the 2 but mine is quite confortable even over what passes for B roads in Surrey.

RE: GD wheel sizes

On the subject of wheels for the GDJAG, can anyone inform me as to the best combination of offsets and wheel/tyre sizes? Those of you with 16" wheels, for example, what tyres have you got on front and rear and what are the offsets? Any info about 15" and 17" would also be gratefully received.

I know there is a formula for working these things out but I have a very simple brain cell and haven't managed it so far! Maybe if someone is close enough to East Sussex then perhaps I could come and have a look sometime?

The car has just failed the SVA on a few minor protrusions, emissions and noise (114 decibels!). I'm off on hols soon but hope to re-take the test in 3-4 weeks time. I'm currently using classic jag wheels, but hope to upgrade in the future (cash/wife permitting)
