Brake pipes

Hi all,
Just started on my GDJag,only got chassis at mo, can someone please tell me where exactly on the chassis I need to bring the F/R brake feed pipes to? As I have not got body yet I don't know where they join up on the bulkhead, or exactly where the B/H will be!!!
So I need to know where to bring the "loose" ends to.
Am I right that clip spacing is no more than 500mm?
Thanks for any help.
Regards Shane 351W

RE: Brake pipes

I brought the front and back pipes up the chassis section drivers side just behind the large lug welded to the top rail and left a great deal of slack in the pipes to terminate accordingly
the area is quite tight with the body on and column in place,so i used a slightly different method to gd by using the flexi hoses to go through the side bulkhead area to ease installation,I think gd terminate the solid pipes through this area using locknuts etc....to bring the ends into the master cylinder area
as for spacing i will check the sva manual and let you know, cant recall seeing a spacing measurement i know its 300mm for wiring
hope this pic helps, people tend to go different ways in their build so its just an idea of mine

Shane
Have a look at the attached photos for help. I fastened all my pipes and cables at less than 300mm centres; on the basis that the last thing I want coming loose at any time wre these. Fit and forget. All fastened with rivnuts and ss hex heads.
All the best

RE: Brake pipes

There is no referance to spacings in the sva manual,it states that
a brake pipie or hose must not:
1.be fouled by moving parts
2.kinked,stretched or twisted
3.inadequately clipped or otherwise supported
4.have unsuitable joint fittings
5.exposed to excess heat

From memory i clipped mine around the 8 inch mark just to be safe

RE: Brake pipes

What the hell is a rivnut, and how is it attached to the chassis?

I'm guessing you drill a hole then pop a rivet like threaded widget into the hole ?

Hi guys, thank you for the input!
Stephen, I was thinking about Rivnuts but havn't got the correct tool so have decided to tap holes in the box section for M8 so it should be neat etc, plus then the holes are no bigger than need be.
Thanks for the piccys they help, my build is at the same stage as the pics where taken!
