Edelbrock mixture screws

I have a ford 302 with an Edelbrock Performer Carb. My problem is that when the engine is hot especially in warm weather when travelling slowly on constant light load (below 1500 revs) the engine does not run smoothly.
Would adjusting the carbs help.
Any advise would be greatfully recieved.
Thanks guys.

Re: Edelbrock mixture screws

It might help if your current settings are incorrect.
Take a look at the Edelbrock web site it may tell you what you need to know.

You've not got the complete 'Performer' package have you? I've yet to hear of one of those running 'smoothly 'at such low revs

Re: Edelbrock mixture screws

I recently installed the Weber package on my engine and found exactly the same problem.

This was cured by installing a 1 inch spacer that it also as acts a heat barrier, purchased from DJ Ellis for around £35.

This has transformed the engine response at low revs.

For info the 1" phenolic spacer is cheaper from Real Steel :thumb:

Re: Edelbrock mixture screws

Essential question before diagnosis - do you have a vac-advance distributor?

No I do not have a vacuum advance unit on distributer.
But the good news is that engibe is running much better now that I am buying fuel from Tesco (was buying from BP).

Re: Edelbrock mixture screws

Good. BTW, screw them in to lean it, out to richen.

Tesco fuel not normally known as the best in the world. For "normal" (i.e. not Optimax etc.) fuel, Texaco seems good.

But if Tesco petrol works for you, stick with it.

Re: Edelbrock mixture screws

Can I use this thread to ask a daft question please?
What is the difference between a Weber 500 and an Edelbock Performer?
Are Edelbrocks actually manufactured by Weber?
