Bolts

To fit the gearbox rubber there is already a mount on the bottom of the gearbox which has a rubber in it..... There needs to be 4 bolts, but there are only 2 bolts, therefore I need to get another of of these same bolts. I tried an M10 bolt and it was too small, so tried an M12 and that was slightly too big....

I think the answer is that it should be an M11 but I do not think there is such thing... Certainly Screwfix do not supply bolts in M11 size... So, anyone have any ideas???

Cheers

Carl..

Re: Bolts

Are you sure it's metric, 7/16" imperial is about 11mm?

Re: Bolts

Hiya,
not entirely sure... The chances, with it being an American gearbox, that they are imperial, so 7/16" will be about right, but I have no way of telling..!!! And, if it is, where do i get some more bolts??

Cheers
Carl..

Re: Bolts

Try www.namrick.co.uk, all the bolts you could possibly want at good prices so you could get both sizes to be sure. Very prompt service as well.

Re: Bolts

Goldie, assuming your AK is Jag based, remove one of the nuts off the Rear lower shock absorber mounting shaft, these are 7/16" UNF, and try this nut on the two bolts you already have. Voila!

Re: Bolts

Hi Goldie,

They will probably be 7/16 UNC.

Namrick sell UNC Bolts of varying lengths.

Re: Bolts

Thanks for that. It looks like youmay be right, but I will take them tomorrow to someone who will certainly have the equipment to tell me for sure...!!!!

It is same size as the rear lower suspension mount bolts but the thread on this bolt is much much more coarse... more like an M12 1.75 thread..!!!

It all adds to the fun and the experience..!!

UNC = Coarse
UNF = Fine

Re: Bolts

If it's a Chevy part, it's UNC. If it looks like a 7/16" but is coarser, it's definitely UNC. Any decent industrial fasteners company will supply them.
