Bundy wiper tubing

Guys, some advice please. Just been a burk and cut my wiper bundy tubing a little too short Yeah, I know, I know. So is it okay to use copper tubing instead or will it be too soft and swaft up the tube. If not can anyone suggest a supplier?

Cheers

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

If the copper tube is the correct internal diameter I can't think of a reason you couldn't use it. It must be about 8mm?

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

Cheers guys, luckily got some tubing kicking around. The really daft thing is I cut it to the right length first, then trimmed it too short. Dooh! Copper it is then...

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

Mine too was cut the right length, and then mysteriously shrank by 2mm when refitted. I think the pipe you need is 3/8 or 5/16. :thumb:

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

Any idea where to buy this pipe? I haven't actually cut mine to the wrong length, before you ask, but was thinking of getting it powdercoated as my stuff has been badly painted and looks a bit crap...

... I'll know it's there

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

Dont know where you can get the steel pipe (Other than Mr B @ GD), but i got a length of copper pipe from my local (quality) motor factors. Copper's a lot easier to flare the ends of as well. The bundy run on the GD is as near to straight as makes no difference so i can't see it wearing overly on bends.

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

I think I might get mine powdercoated - might have cut it long enough to be able to redo the flares - not sure... otherwise, I'll get some from Rose Auto in Crawley...

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

Robin,

At the risk of asking a daft question, WHY ?!! You're not going to see it, no one else is ever going to see it, unless you've discovered a new sexual position and your other half is a contortionist it's hidden above heater pipes, vents, and who knows how much other gubbins.

It's not going to rust as its full of grease and anyhow copper doesn't actually rust as such.

Is this just an excuse to delay things until next summer......

Re: Bundy wiper tubing

I'm taking a load of stuff to be coated and thought I might as well bung it in too. You are probably right - it's not a vital component!
