Re Ardingly

Chris, I really think you have missed the point of my post. Your disparaging remark "Just goes to show how many people do actually read Snake Torque" is a direct insult to all the work I and all the people who write into it for the benefit of other club members put into it. How insulting! The diary section is there to remind members of what's on nationwide. If they choose not to read it, that's up to them, but I've done the best I can. I note you never disputed the facts I stated, so my original remarks must be valid. You have been sent more than two emails and I do remember you telling me there was a problem with your email address because you gave me an alternative, there is not much else I can do about that apart from phone you up.
You said "No one told me or any other members in the near vicinity". How come Vernon Else, Don Jacobs, Chris Hemmings, Steve Loadsman and many more knew about it and turned up. By the way Frank Kay was the publicity organiser for the show and I must say he would be mortified to hear you say that there was no advertising, he spent thousands of pounds advertising it (even locally).
Your comment "Just maybe you could drag yourself out of the paper/telephone era and post on here" I find insulting. Are you questioning my intelligence? If I choose not to comment on every posting on the website, no matter how anal it is, then that is my prerogative, that's called democracy you get to choose what you want to do.
The club is not just the website and more importantly the website is not the club. There are several facets to the CRC, the strength of the area meets, the website and for the foreign members and non computer people, the magazine and other organised events. We should not try to ram down everone's throat our prefered "modus operandi" I would rather embrace it all - that's democracy.
Anyway, thats enough on this subject, I don't think its worth any more effort. If you want to have a bitch at me, give me an old fashioned telephone call and moan at me all you like. Pete

Can I jump in with a comment?

I did and do read the diary dates in Snake Torque Mag and I greatly appreciate the effort put in by every one who contributes towards a great club magazine.

However the diary dates are just a list of events with no details as to whether or not the club is involved.

For example, The festival of speed is advertised in the diary dates and I went to it, but there was no cobra club presence there and I wasn't expecting there to be any.
Later in the diary dates is the vintage and classic show at Ardingly show ground.
There is no mention of the fact that the club was going to display there otherwise I may have volunteered for one of the day's.

This website is the quickest, easiest and most convenient way to reach many of the active members in the Cobra Club. Maybe one of the West Sussex group could keep us all up to date with any future events. E-mail them to me if you like and I will post them here for all to see.

Craig.

I take it Pete the B is Peter Jones?

Sorry Peter but I find your comments to Chris rather disparaging. This is not about who was right or wrong, but just a little about information sharing. We have a huge SE contingent here. Whether most could have made it, I'm not sure but I would estimate there are 50 cobs within 50 miles of this location. I'm a member but I dont really read the magazine. I do read your article though and your response here I found to be as different as it could be.

It would almost appear that Snake Torque and this website are 2 different entities. In fact, I believe they are! Why is that?

Just my thoughts..

Who rattled my cage anyway..

Just finally, I would enforce some sort of caution before making a serious gripe, especially here.

Chris and Peter you are both most valued members of the CRC and the work you both do is to be appluaded by the rank and file membership but could I ask you to resolve this issue off forum. remember at the AGM it was highlighted the struggle to keep members and this is not a proffesional example of how one of the UK'S premier car clubs needs to be portrayed, remember this is an open forum and non/potential members browse this site.
please deal with this in another manner.
and thanks very much for your efforts in keeping the club going
Steve

Agree Steve.

Trying to add constructive input. I have to agree with Plod and some members who I have spoken to today. Putting an event item in ST is all very well and I must also add invaluable, but I'm afraid more than likely forgotten as soon as the reader has read his copy and puts his STdown to go on the web forum.
I have found the forum is the most useful way to remind club members, what's happening and where. For those members who are not webbed up then obviusly they do still have to rely on ST which in it's own right is a fantastic tool.

Clarification.

Firstly I have been unable to use my computer for a while, If had I been checking daily as I usually do, I would have answered Chris by return and maybe saved all the following posts.
Firstly Pete and Steve knew my situation and stepped in to cover as they new I would be un-able to post, I thank them for that, and for the record I agree generally with what they had to say.
I figure my best way to hopfully close this one down, is to reply to
Chris,s original entry as I would have done by return had I been on line.
=========================================
Chris, This was not a club meeting, Frank Kay was in charge off transport, and invited about six of us to show the Cobra,s along with many clubs and organizations showing vehicles, my understanding was that six Cobra,s would a maximum.
I take you point about informing all interested, and will endevor to
post non-club events such that members go along if they wish.
Frank Dowsett. BLOKE.
==========================================
The reason some of the guy's in previus posts have been flexing there muscle's is bacause there are a number of member's, Chris is one of them, who apere to the rest of us to criticise us rather than ask us to include the sort of info. they would like to see, and as Peter said, dont come along to the monthly meets.
Chris I didnt single you out, I just dont recall who the others are, I do look at your postings with inerest, so keep them comming, I will soon let you know if you rub me up the wrong way, come along to a meet. and dont forget broadlands,
Regards Frank Dowsett. BLOKE.

Frank. Thanks for clearing this up. As you say it would have been far better if both Steve and Peter had said it was a "By Invite Only Thing" rather than jumping down my neck for posting a ligitimate query based on Peters original Email that you posted.

"I think the Ardingley show went well (I certainly enjoyed it) and our team put on a good display, well done everyone for giving up your time to promote the club. I think it was well worthwhile doing, thank you."

If they had been more open, none of this would have happened!

I do find the comments of Shit Stirring, Muscle Flexing and Non Attendance of Monthly Meetings strange though! Goodwood is not my local meet and I do more than my fair share of cobra miles attending all the SE meets and shows (of which I have organised many all of which are advertised on here for all to attend) together with an attendance at most of the National Kit Car Shows throughout the year. All I did was to ask why this supposed Club Display was not advertised to those local to it!

Peter you obviously feel that I need to apologise, and rather than do it over the phone I would rather make it open.

Peter I Am Sorry if you found my comments insulting. I Apologise.
