Hants/West Sussex monthly Meet.

As is usual I re-produce Peter's E-mail to us all.
Regards Frank.
Dear All

I hope this email finds you in good form. It is only to remind members that we meet at Goodwood this sunday for those of us still left in the country. As it was so well received on our first visit, I have managed to book "The Wilkes Head" in Eastergate for our pub lunch. We have 20 places inside the restaurant and unlimited seating in the garden area which proved popular last time. I hope as many of you can come as possible.

I think the Ardingley show went well (I certainly enjoyed it) and our team put on a good display, well done everyone for giving up your time to promote the club. I think it was well worthwhile doing, thank you.

August is always a busy month but I think the following are worth a mention. Just a reminder that the Goodwood Breakfast Club on Aug 3rd is "Thoroughbred Sunday - The Quintessential pre 1980 Sportscars and as it's soft top cars and my birthday it's bound to rain that day. On 10th Aug the Essex mob and many others are convoying to the Imperial Air Museum at Duxford for the "Car Club Day" a discounted entry for CRC members is offered and it's not a bad day out. Looking forward to August 24/25th please remember the car show "Hampshire Pageant of Motoring" at the Broadlands Estate, Romsey which we are sharing a club stand with the Wessex CRC meet over the two days. I think you can still book a space on the display site, contact me or Steve Young for details, don't leave it too late.

A bit early, I know, but
bit early, I know, but we have booked the "Nags Head" in Chichester for our Area Christmas dinner on Saturday 6th December. It's at 7pm but arrive at 6.30 and get your drinks sorted. I have booked a table of 45 (it was oversubscribed last year) so when I send you the invite notice and menu, get a grip and book your place or you might miss out. The "Obergruntenfurher" will do the paperwork like last year and collect deposits. Unlike last year we will not have people ordering extras like coffee after the meals have been paid for and then sloping off and not paying for them. They expect a tip also. Mine would be not to work at Christmas as its a very busy time!

Haven't decided on the August meet yet (for those not going to Broadlands) but open to suggestions, any ideas? I have been following Terry and Paul Lifton's progress on their eurotrip via the "ether" and it won't be long before they come home, perhaps we will use a monthly meet to book a skittles event at "The Barley Mow" at Walderton when they are back home. Keep well, hope to see as many as possible on sunday, Pete.

Frank. Please don't take this as a criticism! But maybe some of us that live less than 10miles from Ardingly might have liked to attend (If we had known about it) Is this not a Club Site?

Anyway! I should be notified of any Area Events as Area Rep Liason so that they are covered by the Club insurance.

Ardingly is not far from me either but I had no idea there was a club event going on. Might have come along if I'd have known about it.

Publicity is the answer and where better to do it than here?

Craig.

Re Ardingly Attendance

Chris, you must be taking the piss!!! Look in issue 98 of Snake Torque, go to page 18 (Diary Dates 200 top right hand corner. If that isn't a listing for the Ardingly event then I'm dyslexic!! What is the point of me doing the diary dates if nobody reads them, aarrgg!! You also receive my emails about our monthly meets and details of Ardingly have been on those (but they probably never got to you?). As you never attend our monthly meet or phone me to find out whats going on there is not a lot I can do to keep you informed. This seems odd to me because as well as being the editor of the club magazine, I am also area rep for hants/sussex and as you are rep liaison most would assume there would be more contact between us two and you would therefore have found out. I'm afraid communication by computer is inferior to telephone and always will be, just look at some of the mis-quoted crap that litters this wesite. Just for the record, Frank Kay (the advertising manager of the show) area member also, asked us to display some cars just as any other entrant/exhibitor. We were not in any official capacity on behalf of the club, just individuals showing off their cars and thus the show organisers insurance covered the participants. You would have been quite able to bring your car along and join our section or any of the others. I have to ask you the question: if you live that close to Ardingly how come you didn't know the show was on?
Anyway, enough of this silliness, stop stirring the sh*t and lets get on with running the club properly and not running it down all the time. You can either phone or email your apology to me, I don't mind either way. Peter Jones
