Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold Hi, Has anyone installed a tubular 6/3/1 etc type manifold - Rimmer Bros RR1400A as an example? I am interested in any physical clearance problems that anyone may have discovered and overcome - perhaps recommendations for a manifold that fits? Thanks, John "john.w.harle@boeing.com"

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold I used one from Phoenix Exhausts who have lots of distributors. Do a google search for your nearest. regards

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold Thanks for the info porkypanther - Was the manifold you fitted the 6/3/1 or the 6/3/2 ? I want to use a 6/3/1 to run into my bespoke exhaust system. I was looking at installing the up coming Moss Supercharger, but the folks in the USA are telling me there may not be enough clearance aft of the inlet manifold - bummer!! Have you done any other performance mods on your engine ?? John

| Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold I have done a 4 - 2 - 1 system on a 289 and i'm about to do the same on a pilgrim. Look in my gallery for some pics. Andy

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold Its a stainless 6>3>1 Yes many other mods, this motor is highly tuneable. regards

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold Thanks PP !! What other mods do you recommend? I was begining to think (from my TR research) that this 2.5 engine was not very tuneable - unless you fitted fuel injection + the 150 BHP cam etc. I have twin SU's everything else is standard on the engine. I come from tuning MGB and A series engines - even using a supercharger and EDIS mapping ignition. I am planning to fit an EDIS to this car also. Again, any engine mods you have done, any tips and recommendations of companies /sites etc that specialise in improving this engines performance would be very much appreciated. You are in Kent yes - I live in Reigate, Surrey - perhaps meet up one day to share cars / ideas ? John

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold Hi John I have used these suppliers mainly: www.quillertriumph.co.uk http://www.prirace.com/ This engine on Dellortos with manifold, cam, & head should be good for 170bhp cheers

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold On rereading your post - I have no knowledge or experience of clever stuff like mapping, but IMHO its easy and cheap to get horsepower from this engine and for it to remain tractable. Sure the BHP/litre isn't much to shout about, but its a tough smooth engine. Webers are more powerful & cheaper than PI I think.

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold Thanks PP - I will look into mods for the head and manifold. A cam change requires engine out (I would think) and I am ont ready for that just yet. What is IMHO ? When get the EDIS installed (by end of May) I will let you know. John "john.w.harle@boeing.com"

Re: Triumph 2.5 engine - exhaust manifold Cam does require engine out, but you wont get full benefit from the head and gasflow unless the cam is changed too. IMHO means In mY Humble Opinion!! all the best
