Anyone got one?

Has anyone got a dB meter that I can borrow for some exhaust noise tests?

I appreciate this is an expensive bit of kit but I am as honest as any good Yorkshire man can be I managed to get one from an old employee a couple of years ago and then it measure 119dB at 3000rpm. This meter I no longer have access to.
I am limited on ways to silence it and don't want to risk chancing it on SVA day.

Any help greatly appreciated.

We have if you want it.
It only cost £30 a few years ago.
PM me if you want me to post it on Monday, unless you want to pick it up over the weekend.
Cheers
Kevin

Wow, that was quick! Are you off to Newark? I'm off Sunday no matter what the weather
If not then I'll call by one evening next week if that's ok.

Thanks,

Blimey I thought they would be as rare as hens teeth....everyones got one! Now I feel like I should own one! Thanks for the offer Russ but as Kev had the fastest fingers I'll take up his offer, thanks all the same.

Russ, I have swapped my job (in the process of) Will be dyno testing 6ltr to 22 ltr turbo diesel lumps and helping with development work on the turbo side of things! Can't wait to start, looks very interesting. Have you any good diesel books you suggest I read
Cheers,

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the big diesel brigade, what company are you going to? The reason i ask is it's quite a small comunity and most people know each other.

I started with Ruston diesels part of the MAN group, and did a bit of work on the test beds, so i might have some litrature about some where.

You seem to be going down the same route as me, (12yrs working on the pegasus) diesels are childs play compared to jets. any questions just ask and i will try and answer.

Russ

Hi Lee
We are not off to Newark this year.
We are in most evenings, just give us some warning as to when you are coming. I will not be offended if you want to borrow one earlier to your home.
Cheers

Kev, You have pm. Well in a few mins you will have!

Russ, Cummins. Turns out there are 3 more crab fat working there, 2 of which have been my bosses from years gone by....small world.
Had a day there last week and it looked bang up my street. All the team seemed spot on from the time I spent there.

Is that at the Gildersome depot, if so i didn't know they had test beds there?

Know the cummins engines quite well, We tend to work with the KTA38's and NTA 855's. very strong units apart for one in hull, four out of six pots pick up and seized a right bar steward to get them out.

No, it's the Huddersfield plant. I may also be offered a job fitting out the test cells, reparing them and making test equiptment for the Turbo chargers.....nice to get a choice!

They had the new Dodge Ram 6.7ltr engine on test last week. They test light duty to heavy duty Turbo applications. Pick ups to ship and earth mover engines.
