Anyone got a joggler?

Anyone had any experience with manual or air powered jogglers?

Robin,

yes, I do loads of welding on old bangers, sorry classic cars. I use a manual joggler (machinie marts own) but found it didn't really put enough offset into the metal to allow flush fitting of the new bits of panels. I took it apart and had the steps on the tool working faces milled bigger, now works fine. Bit tricky on curved panels though, cause putting the joggle in the edge tends to distort the shape of the panel quite badly.

Didn't Rick Wakeman do a comedy show from Jonglers - not sure if he was on manual or air powered ?

Joggler

What thickness of metal and what type are you hoping to joggle? If it is aluminium and you can do the joggle on a bench (i.e. it's not attached to a car) you can do a short length by simply placing two sheets of the same gauge material at opposites sides of the sheet and joggle and dressing down with a mallet. Steel sheet you may have to work a bit harder but the process will still work.

You can also radius the edge of the sheets being used as packers so you do not get a sharp edge, sharp edges lead to cracks over a period of time.
