Question Supercar Sunday

Supercar Sunday is on this weekend at Gaydon heritage centre.
Looks like a good event, and the west midland region of the CRC are down as attending on the advertisers blurb.
The only thing is when I asked the other West Midland members about it at the Black Boy meet last Sunday nobody knew anything about it.
Does anybody know if this is a planned meet or not, and if so what are the details??
Cheers
Steve.

Unhappy

Hi Steve,

I`ve been the last couple of years and it was well worth it. Admission to the event was free and to the museum as well. I did get my own tickets and then found several other Cobra owners there as well who had done the same. Not sure why it does not seem like its organised through the area. Unfortunatly I cant make it this time (doing a lot of that lately) but hope you guys have a great day out.

Hi Steve

This event has been organised by Martin Beechy the last area rep for the west midlands, I have spoken to him and as far as he can tell me is the first 12 cars that turn up and mention the cobra club complete with a membership card will get in free after that there is a charge for entry.

Sorry that the details are so late but it was out of me hands as they contacted martin directly as they have his details and not mine.

I will organise this next year so all member have much more notice.

I bumped into Iain today in B&Q and he was buying some nice thick "Bridgend" branded rope. I then popped into Boots the chemist to find Iain buying catering packs of paraceatamol tablets and razor blades..........

If there is an award for the most stoic acceptance of Cobra misfortune I think we have a prime candidate in Iain.

Cheers,

Tony

Many thanks Tony

the fuel bill was quite small for the weekend as i spent most of my time on the back of a car transporter.

it's jackonory time all was going well until the chevy needed a drink so as i am near oxford service on the M40 in I pop for fuel, so far so good then the devil puts the curse of a cobra owner in my way "speed bumps" ( and bit B**T**DS) yes you knows whats coming. Bye bye sump and all its contents. I then phone the RAC who appear and take me home.
Now not wanting to admit defeat I quickly get the car up on ramps and remove the sump and weld it back together refill with oil (i'm glad I had extra oil in the garage) it is now 1.00am and time for some sleep before motoring back to london for the start.

Now it 4.00am and i try to make as little noise as i can as i set of for the hotel where i am meeting the others who will have a good night sleep unlike me. once again all is running well and i reach the outskirts of cobham by 6.30am. I find a petrol station and fill up ready for the days activity. I then motor over to the hilton hotel to meet the other and have a nice breakfast ready for the start. Then yes you guessed it there are speed bumps into the hotel carpark and yes you guessed it, it then opened the other end of the sump and so i left a trail of valoline all over the car park. so as i complain to the hotel reception only to be told "O" yes we know that the speed bumps are a little I am followed by two more people who have hit the bumps .

so as i sat and had my breakfast at the hotel it was time to ring the recovery company, now I had just joined Brittainia rescue ready for Le-mans so it was time for a trial run i thought the RAC would not see the funny side.

So this weekend a complete new sump is being fitted which is not quite so deep and I think a slight raise of the front suspension.

All that I can say it both recovery companies where very good in the speed of reaction.

I have also had a chat with the hotel manager and after at first saying its not there problem and they would not do any about it, i point out as a diamond VIP member of hilton I would take this further they now have offered to cover the cost of replacing the sump.

now where did i put those razer blades.

If it can happen Iain It always happens to you get a sump guard fitted whilst you are at it, I got some 5mm steel and welded it to my sump when I changed it this year.
