Hi There

Recently bought a Sumo MkII - Ford 2.8 V6 (Don't mock - If your going too fast - no one will see you) and I am well in the process of tidying here up (with a lot of help from my Brother-in-Law, thanks Gerard - perhaps you'll be able to finish your own projects when I'm gone - Can I mention TVR and Spartan on this site???)

I live and work in Edinburgh and would be happy to meet up with any owners.
We seem to be a little thin on the ground up here.

Have bought a spare engine and found many sources for parts - so I'm happy in the area. Have had the suspension set up, but still not too happy - I have heard of a firm in Glasgow who specialise in setting up rally cars etc - If anyone knows of them grateful for their details.
Next task is to replace the dash. I like the look of Pilgrims new board (Seen recently in one of the kit car magazines) so I think I will base it on that. Does anyone have the centre triangle part? I understand this comes with the original dash, but many people don't use it - Is there a reason for this apart from taste? I'd also like to fit a Smith's timepiece, but they seem a little expensive (Europa £60.00) again anyone got one for sale or know of other sources (Black dial)

For a first post I know I’m asking for a lot, but I would be really grateful for any assistance.

Many thanks

David C

Re: New member

Try Caerbont - they are the people that make them: sales@caigauge.com
I find Europa to be pretty expensive for most things...

Welcome to the club - don't worry about the engine... with petrol the price it is I'm thinking of fitting a 1.3...

David welcome to the club and good to see you' ve already got the bug for making your car better. Ihave been working on my car for over 12 years now and next week I have a week off work and a massive list of tasks to get through! Its fun though.
Can't anser your questions much as I don't have a Sumo but I can tell you that all teh Smiths secondary gauges in my car when I first built it came from scrappies or autojumbles and were very affordble.

Welcome to the club and we look forward to many more posts from you and many mre questions.

Re: New member

Welcome to the club David.

I did have a Smiths clock in the garage which I've either moved to a new hiding place or thrown out. At the moment I can't remember which !!
If it turns up I'll let you have the details.

Re: New member

Just ordered all of our dials from Europa at Stoneleigh. After much research they were actually cheaper - especially with the 5% show discount and free postage and packing. I agree with Robin that they can be expensive but certainly catalogue prices on these bits they were cheaper. Just my experience on this occassion.

Re: New member

I think you can get some good discounts at the shows. If you hunt around there are some big differences between stalls - I bought two Union Flag enamel badges for £6 whereas I'd seen them being sold individually for £7 elsewhere.

Sidescreens, which I now wish I'd bought, were £35, whereas Brasscraft had them for £55.

Anyway, new computer has arrived so lots to play with!!!

Cheerio,

R

I'll try my charms on Europa - Nothing ventured and all that.
