New Start

Well here we go this is my first time posting something on this site. I dont have a Cobra, replica or other, in fact I dont even intend to start building my own until either later this year or early next.
I thought that I would first join this club to learn as much as I can about building a replica car before I start and of course do a lot of research on the web.
So looking forward to chatting to you guys over the weeks months year, and hopefully tease as much info out you as I possible can.

Hi Geoff.
Welcome aboard.
You have done the right thing by coming here first. (eBay is the last place you should visit BTW).
There are a few members here from Scotland....And some of them are OK..

I'm originally from NE England but moved up here about 15 years ago with work. I dont see living up here being a problem for building a car, or does anyone think different?

the only problem you have in Scotland building a car is the rain and the neds (otherwise known as "chavs" to all south of the border). Where abouts in Scotland are you? If you need any advice there are quite a few of us up here and i'd be more than happy to try answer any questions you might have.

I live in Angus on the East Coast, but work in Aberdeen so I do quite a bit of commuting each week, over 500 miles.
I used to do a lot of work on cars and engines with my dad when I was a teenager and into my early 20's, that was before engines were covered tubes and wire and controlled by computers.

Hi Geoff,
welcome to the club
Ahh , yes i remember those days too, no electronic ignition, a dyno instead of an alternator
mm, perhaps not so good ,but then again no pcb's (printed circuit boards) and you could repair using spare parts & sealed units were a rarity not the normality of today.
Cross -ply tyres only for the brave.
