Hi there

The engine is IN!!!! Im glad to see the floor in the utility room again lol!

There are a few photos of the engine in the engine bay now.

Five of his friends turned up and it went in really well with a pump truck and the hoist. Paul has had to make a few adjustments (he would be able to tell you what these were) and I think he has more to do as he says the steering is knocking against the exhaust pipes that go into the engine (if that makes sense!).

Any suggestions would be greatly received from you all!

THANK YOU again

Diane/Paul

Hi

You quite often have to move the steering column, lower bearing carrier on the footwell face, to get enough clearance for the steering shaft.

The headers are tight but by moving the steering column you should be able to make enough room.

Craig.

Engine starting without the key!

Morning everyone

Paul managed to get engine in and gear box etc and finished all the pipework and wiring etc yesterday.

Filled her up with all fluids and then ready to start the engine.

Connected the battery lead - no key in ignition - and NOISE FROM ENGINE!

It is probably a wiring "thing" but dont know where to start.

Has anyone had this problem and sorted it out?

THANK YOU

Also - can someone please tell us how to start a new thread?

Thank you everyone

Diane

Definitely a wiring issue. Check all the connections to the starter solenoid and ignition switch are correct.

To start a new thread, Go to the top of the page and click on the forums link. This will bring up a page of the various forum areas like Dax questions, Engine questions Etc.
Click on the forum of choice and a page will appear showing the various threads in that forum. At the top is a button that has "new thread" on it. Click that and your away.

Craig.

Thanks Craig

Since Paul had the chemotherapy his concentration on things and patience is not like it used to be so the wiring really did his head in last night.

Whereas once upon a time he would spend hours trying to work something out for himself he now looks for a quick answer as he cant put his mind to it for too long.

Thank you again

Diane

It sounds like the starter solenoid has been connected directly to the battery rather than via the ignition switch. Assuming of course that the "noise from the engine" was the starter motor spinning over, which it may not has been.

Paul

Hi Paul

Paul says he connected the battery lead and the the two brown 10ml rings to the starter (both together to the starter).

The noise he had from the engine was that the engine was turning as soon as he connected the battery (no key ignition and turned off).

It is a mini torque starter.

Thank you for all your help.

Diane
