Hello

Just though I should say hello!

I signed up to the forum a few days ago.

I'm without a Cobra sadly, so don't have too much to say on the topic right now, but I'm looking to acquire one soon.

Are there any other members in Maidenhead?

Mike

Good choice.

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.

I don't like to mess about!

Point taken about being careful. I'm still in the phase where I'm driving like a granny. Not helped by the fact I have to untangle my feed for each gear change due to the unfeasibly small foot well.

I still need to build up my arm mussels to park this thing - that was quite a shock at the 1st junction!

I'm booked on an airfield day just to get a feel for the car. Any advice/warnings regarding this ? I've heard talk of people letting down the tires a little ?

As far as I understand It's one car at a time on each section so it shouldn't be too bad for stone chips, collisions etc. I don't plan to push it too hard (what ever that may be ).

Have the geometry set-up checked, as it shouldn't be too heavy.

Just watch the pressures, check them straight after a couple of laps to get the temp into them and then keep checking them.

WHich airfield are you going to?

Welcome to the club, as Wilf said that was quick. Don't know if you have already done this or not but some people get shoes for driving which have virtually no sole so as to make your shoe/foot as narrow as possible. This can help quite a bit you will be surprised.

I'm off to North Weald in Essex on the 28th.

Car Limits

As for tyre pressure / geometry I'm sure something is slightly out because it seems to wanted to understeer a little more than I'd expect. A bit of tyre sequel from the front (I think) on right had T junctions at pedestrian speeds too.

But I've only had chance to drive it once on the day I picked it up and I have to admit I've not even checked the pressures since I got it.

Andy at GD did say that it was going to need the suspensions setting up after it had loosened up. It's only done a couple of thousand miles from new.

I'm not sure what a good starting point for the pressures would be. I guess about 22psi on all corners after doing some searching.
