Whats a good starter for a machanical idiot, thats looks and sounds good is reliable and drives easily. not precious about authenticity its for fun.

Blindly looking at adverts.

Hi Paul and welcome. The main questions back at you are: What's you're budget and what do want to do with a Cobra, Sunday sunny drives, trackdays, polishing only ?

Have a look at this link, it's filtered between £15k-£20k. AC Cobras for Sale

Plenty of choice and I'm certain people will take offers with the economy the way it is at the moment.

Paul

My advice would be post up a link to any adverts that you see and then just sit back and watch the "bun fight" . After a page or two of posts an anwser will start to immerge as to whether the car is any good and worth the money.

You could also go to some local meets, most people will tell you what they think their car is worth, this will help you decide what you will get for your money.

15 to 20K will get you a reasonable car (you may end up nearer 20 than 15). It is at the budget end but you're on the same playing field at least!

You will probably find that someone is willing to go and look at the car with you.

Pete

Welcome Paul,

Where are you based?

Just a couple of extra comments - "Drives Easily" Compared to what? Most Cobra's don't have anti lock brakes, some come with power steering and most have a huge amount of torque to just spin the rear wheels and go no where.

If anything does go wrong, again, this is probably the first place to start, you'll need to take the car to someone who has seen one before for most 'problems' and the guys here will know who.

Have fun looking and test driving

Andi.
